All along Oregon's luscious coastline and deep within its ocean border are small pieces of magical natural beauty waiting to be discovered. While the Pacific Ocean creates a majestic scape of wide-open beaches, rivers, and rocky plains, the charm of the towns within should not be overlooked. There is something for everyone in a quaint center-town or an expansive coastline in the small towns in Oregon with big charm.

Astoria's headline attraction is the Astoria Column, built in memoriam to the history of the Pacific Northwest, looming large during the day and shining bright with special lights at night. Arguably equally beautiful, but commonly forgotten, are the tall trees of the nearby Cathedral Tree Trail, and the expansive views from the Comcomly Memorial. Closer to the harbor that follows along the Columbia River is the Columbia River Maritime Museum and its shipping, fishing, and military history, and the Oregon Film Museum and the Flavel House Museum are similarly worthwhile daytime activities. Outdoor enthusiasts should stroll through the naturally majestic Shively Park, while busy food lovers should visit the Fort George Brewery.
