Yountville is a small city situated in Napa County, in the Wine Country region in the US State of California. The city forms a part of the North Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area. The city of Yountville serves as one of the most popular destinations for gourmet diners.

The city of Yountville covers a total area of only 4.0 sq. km, making it a perfect destination for walking and relaxing. The city is located in the heart of the Napa Valley among the vineyards between the Mayacamas Mountains and the Napa River. Often referred to as the 鈥渃ulinary capital of Napa Valley,鈥 the small city of Yountville hosts some of the region's best restaurants and is currently one of the best places for shopping, dining, lodging, and wine-tasting. The city is also known for its 海角社区-renowned art scene, which includes an art walk, museum, and a performing arts theatre that hosts several exciting events all through the year. There are many well-maintained neighborhood parks in the city that offers a lot of outdoor recreational activities for visitors.

The city of Yountville has two Michelin-starred restaurants, namely 鈥淭he French Laundry鈥 and 鈥淏ouchon Bistro.鈥 Both of these restaurants are owned by the noted American chef and restaurateur Thomas Aloysius Keller. Known for having more than one Michelin star per 1,000 residents, the city of Yountville has the most Michelin stars per capita than anywhere else in North America. The Napa Valley Museum, located in downtown Yountville offers the visitors a comprehensive look at the region鈥檚 unique history. The city of Yountville is administered under a council-manager form of government.

According to the K枚ppen climate classification, the city of Yountville experiences a Mediterranean climate, with long, hot, arid summers and short, cold, wet winters. The hot season lasts from June to October, with July being the hottest month, having an average high temperature of 30.5掳C and a low temperature of 13.3掳C. The cold season lasts from November to February, with January being the coldest month, having an average low temperature of 3.8掳C and a high temperature of 13.3掳C. The city receives an average annual precipitation of 804.2mm.

As per the 2010 census, the city of Yountville is home to a population of 2,933 inhabitants. The city鈥檚 population has increased from the 2000 census, which showed that the city was home to 2,916 people. The city has a population density of 739.5 inhabitants per sq. km. About 89.4% of the city鈥檚 population is considered White, the Hispanic group at 9.9%, African Americans at 1.3%, Native Americans at 1.0%, Asians at 1.7%, other races at 3.1%, two or more races at 3.4%, and Pacific Islander at 0.0%. The census also revealed that there are 1,050 households and 1,252 housing units in the city of Yountville. It is estimated that approximately one-third of the city鈥檚 population resides on the grounds of the Veterans Home of California.

Brief History Of Yountville

During the early 1800s, the area that currently makes up the city of Yountville was owned by Mexico. In 1836, the Californian entrepreneur George Calvert Yount received a 48.10 sq. km land grant from the Mexican government. He became Napa Valley鈥檚 first permanent settler and established its first vineyard. In 1855, a town named 鈥沦别产补蝉迟辞辫辞濒鈥 was laid out on his property. But since a town located in the nearby Sonoma County had earlier laid a claim to this name, the town was named 鈥淵ountville鈥 in honor of George Calvert Yount in 1867. The town of Yountville was officially incorporated as the city of Yountville on February 4, 1965. On September 3, 2000, the city of Yountville faced an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude.
