Middleburg

Middleburg was founded in 1787 by Leven Powell. He was a Revolutionary War officer who named it for its location halfway between Winchester and Alexandria. With over 160 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, the town offers plenty of history to explore, including the nearby Aldie Mill, which dates back to the early 19th century. This landmark was once the county’s largest factory and has fully operational waterwheels, allowing visitors to appreciate grinding demonstrations during the warmer months when the park is open.
