The Poconos, or, the Pocono Mountains, is a stunning hilly region in the northeast of Pennsylvania. It is sparsely populated compared to many other parts of the northeast of the United States, but because of this, it is filled with natural parks, small towns full of charm, and a slower, laid-back vibe that you simply cannot get in the city.

Jim Thorpe

In the heart of the Pocono Mountains, Jim Thorpe is a charming town known for its rich history and scenic beauty. It is named after the famed native American athlete who was buried there after his death in 1953.

Visitors can explore the quaint streets lined with Victorian architecture, visit the Asa Packer Mansion, or take a scenic train ride through the Lehigh Gorge. Bear Creek Village

Bear Creek Village, with a minuscule population of just around 290 people, is definitely a town that will fly under the radar of most. Deep in the woods of the Poconos, it is full of outdoor activities that are easily accessible nearby. The Natural Lands' Bear Creek Preserve, New Pocono Trust's Conservation, and Buttermilk Falls at Bear Creek Preserve are just some of the many parks a short drive outside of town. Here you can fish, hike, camp, and partake in a number of excursions in the wilds.

Bear Creek Village is also notable for having a historic district that is filled with very well-preserved historic buildings, the Lewis Mansion and the Former Store for example.

Milford

Dingmans Ferry
