The current US administration crackdown on immigrants and anti-immigrant sentiments and phrases has left some immigrants feeling unwelcome in many parts of the US. However, other cities are defying these mandates and warmly welcoming immigrants. According to the American Community Survey of the US Census, the following are top 5 US cities with the most immigrants.

Hialeah, Florida has the highest immigrant population in the US. The foreign-born population of the city comprises about 74.4% of the total city population. Hialeah is the 6th largest city in Florida, though it is often considered to be part of the Miami metropolitan area. Out of an approximate population of 218,901, 162,951 are foreign born. The city has a higher number of Cuban and Cuban Americans than any other city in the US, making up 73.3% of the population.Â
2. Miami, Florida
The city of Miami is ranks second in terms of US cities with the most immigrants. The foreign-born population in the city makes up 58% of the total population. The city proper, which covers an area of 56.6 square miles, had an estimated population of 463,347 in 2017. The city is also the largest city with a Cuban American plurality.Â
3. Fremont, California
According to the American Community Survey of the US Census, Fremont is ranked 3rd among the cities with the most immigrants in the US. The Californian city has a foreign-born population of 47.5%. The city also has a rapidly growing population of about 230,000. Fremont is the 4th most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area. About half of the city’s population is comprised of people of Asian descent. The city is also home to the largest concentration of Afghan-Americans.

Jersey City is the second most populous city in New Jersey. The city is also one of the US cities with the most immigrants. The foreign-born population makes up 41.7% of Jersey City’s population.
