Atlanta is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States and has amazing skyscrapers unique in design and size. Bank of America Plaza

Located on the Southeastern Side of the United States, is the Bank of America Plaza which is recorded to be the tallest building in Atlanta. With a height of 1,023 feet, this reputable building is easily accessible due to its location at the Interstate 75/85 Downtown Connector where several omnibus lines serve the area. Built in the year 1992, the Bank of America Plaza has also been named the 13th tallest building in the country and the 93rd tallest in the º£½ÇÉçÇø. The building’s design encompasses a postmodern construction style with a creative artist twist. The landscaping of the building is perfected with a lush green park that has a spacious dining area available to persons utilizing the premise. Atlanta's tallest building is home to several companies in the financial, real estate, and law industry which is the other reason why it has garnered so much publicity over the years.

SunTrust Plaza

Also called ‘One Peachtree Center,' SunTrust plaza is gray with a postmodernism architectural style constructed in 1992. With the height of 871 feet, this building has 60 floors above the ground and is the 27th tallest building in the US. One of the items that will be easily visible to the building users are the artworks that give the lobby an artist flare coupled with the building’s architect John Portman’s sculptures. SunTrust Plaza is mainly used for commercial purposes and houses different organizations like the Portman Holdings, LLC.

One Atlantic Center

Proposed for construction in 1985, One Atlantic Center ended in the year 1987 which was the tallest building in Atlanta then with 50 floors above the ground and is the 40th tallest building in the country. Having the height of 850 feet, this skyscraper is made of a composite structural material that brought about its light brown color. The building is mostly used for commercial purposes, it is important to note that the rooms in all the floors are spacious guaranteeing offices that are decongested and comfortable. The surrounding of this respected center is a 2.5-acre park that has been beautifully landscaped complete with ornamental water features and courtyards. The postmodernism architectural style of the building has a shaft that has been modeled after the well-known ‘Tribune Tower’ in Chicago which inevitably increased the popularity of this building that is among the tallest in Atlanta.

191 Peachtree Tower

Situated in Downtown Atlanta area, 191 Peachtree Tower is the creative work of the architect Kendal/Heaton Associates Inc. completed in 1990. Made of glass granite, this building is 770 feet tall with 50 floors above the ground and is the 63rd tallest building in the US. The two rooftop crowns are the distinctive feature and the building was awarded the BOMA Building of the Year Award in the years 1991 and 1998. The gray colored skyscraper has a postmodernism architectural style and mostly used for commercial purposes. The 191 Peachtree tower is situated opposite of the famous Atrium.

History of Skyscrapers

The history of skyscrapers in Atlanta dates back to 1892 when the Equitable Building was constructed. The construction boom was experienced in the mid-1980s through to 1990s. This is the period when four of the tallest buildings were completed. Out of the twenty tallest buildings in the state of Georgia, 18 are in Atlanta.
