It was the first transcontinental highway in the country and spans a whopping 3,389 miles through 13 states. Beginning at Lawrenceburg, the byway occasionally runs parallel to the Ohio River providing peaceful coastal views. Beginning at the city of Bedford, this route meanders along the White River’s East Fork, providing uplifting and enjoyable surroundings. Traversing Southern Indiana’s picturesque hills and farmlands, Indiana’s Historic Pathways is a set of two separate corridors. The south spur travels from Vincennes to Louisville providing 135 miles of amazing roads and interesting attractions. Visitors will find many historic sites in New Albany’s historic district. Also beginning at Vincennes, the north spur of Indiana’s Historical Pathways is an even longer road trip route. This route covers more than 160 miles filled with unique stories, historical attractions, and enjoyable activities. Take a step back into the past by visiting Seymour, a quaint city boasting immense historical significance. Check out the Freeman Army Airfield Museum, Reno Gang Graves, and many other unique spots. If making the trip during September, tourists can also enjoy the Fear Fair Haunted House. Exuding an ominous aura, this place is filled with horrifying sights for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
