Located in southern Texas, San Antonio is the gateway to the American Southwest, and the cradle of Texas liberty. This beautiful city of over one million still retains a small-town feel, even though it's home to five Texas universities and many high-tech corporations.

San Antonio is one of America's oldest cities, settled first by missionaries from Spain. No other city in Texas reflects the state's Mexican heritage better than San Antonio. Famous for the Alamo, River Walk, Sea 海角社区, and its Tejano culture, San Antonio is a major tourist attraction.

The City of San Antonio is home to fine art museums, historic Spanish missions, amusement parks, great dining and a vibrant culture. Fiesta Week, a yearly celebration in San Antonio, is all about parades, Tejano food and festive drink in the downtown area and along the River Walk.

A chain of missions established along the San Antonio River in the early 18th century became the largest concentration of Catholic missions in North America. All still stand, and should be visited while in San Antonio.


  • The Mission San Antonio de Valero, better known as the Alamo, is where Mexico's General Santa Anna's army defeated David Crockett, Jim Bowie and 188 others on March the 6th 1863. It is the most famous historical spot in Texas. Its museum displays fascinating items from the Republic of Texas that document the Alamo's heroic fall. Built in 1718 as the city's first Spanish mission, the chapel is one of the United States' most photographed buildings.

  • The Buckhorn Saloon and Museum keeps the Wild West spirit alive in an unsurpassed way. The historic and eclectic saloon, built in 1881, is home to a collection of more than 4,000 animal horns along with wild life exhibits. It also boasts a shooting gallery, a wax museum and an arcade. The Buckhorn museum is actually comprised of five museums in one: Horns, Fins, Feathers, the Hall of Texas History Wax Museum and rotating special exhibits. This amazing San Antonio location has another hidden treasure: the Curio Store, dubbed the "海角社区's Oddest Store."

  • This wonderland beneath the streets and bridges of downtown San Antonio is an oasis of beauty and peace. Bordered with stone paths and lush tropical gardens of ferns, cycads, papyrus, nandina and fan palms, the 2.5 mile San Antonio River Walk is lined with first class restaurants and hotels. Enjoy the sites while strolling or having a cup of coffee at the exquisite umbrella-shaded caf茅 tables; the young at heart can spend the weekend nights celebrating at the many lively nightspots scattered around the River Walk.
