New Caledonia has two official National flags: The Flag of France (French Tricolore) and The Kanak (indigenous Melanesian) Flag. Both the flags have equal status.
The Kanak (indigenous Melanesian) Flag was adopted by the Congress of New Caledonia on July 13, 2010.
The Kanak (indigenous Melanesian) Flag consists of three equal horizontal bands of blue (top), red, and green. A large yellow disk - with a diameter about two-thirds the height of the flag is shifted slightly to the hoist side. This large yellow disk is edged in black and displays a black fleche faiti茅re. The blue color of the flag symbolizes the sky and the oceans surrounding New Caledonia. The red color represents the blood spilled by the Kanaks in their struggle for independence, socialism and unity. The yellow disk symbolizes the sun and the black fleche faiti茅re symbol alludes to the native rooftop adornment. The flag has a height-to-width proportion ratio of 1:2.
The Emblem of New Caledonia features a Nautilus shell in the front. Behind the shell are: 聽a fleche faiti茅re symbol and an endemic New Caledonian pine (Araucaria columnaris). The fleche faiti茅re symbol alludes to the native rooftop adornment in Kanak houses.
Being a special collectivity of France, The national anthem of France - "La Marseillaise" is also the official national anthem of New Caledonia.
"Soyons unis, devenons fr猫res" ("Let us unite, let us become brothers") is the official local anthem of New Caledonia. The music and lyrics of the local anthem have been created by Melodia choral. It was adopted as the local anthem in 2008.聽

1st couplet
Oh sacred land of our ancestors,
The light which lights the way of our lives,
You invite them to pass on to us
Their dreams, their hopes, their desires.
In the shelter of the columnar pines,
In the shade of the flame trees,
In the valleys of your rivers,
Their heart is always there.
Chorus
Let us unite, let us become brothers,
No more violence, no more war.
Let us march, in confidence and solidarity,
For our country
2nd couplet
Land of speech and sharing,
You offer to a stranger,
In the tribe or in the village,
A place to rest.
You want to house tolerance,
Equity and respect,
Enfold them with your giant arms,
Oh Land of freedom.
[Chorus]
Oh land of multiple faces,
North, South, Loyalty Islands,
Your three provinces are the image
Of your great diversity
We, your children, resemble you
Tempering our memory.
With a single voice, let us sing together:
Land, you are our future.
[Chorus]
