9 Best Destinations for a Winter Vacation in Utah

Utah is one of America's most sought-after winter destinations and the acclaimed home of the 鈥淕reatest Snow on Earth." It bagged this distinction due to the science behind its snowfall: the amount of snowfall, the frequency of storms, and right-side-up storms. In addition to 500 inches of snow annually, a few hot springs, and over a dozen ski resorts for winter sports, the state is the ultimate destination during the cold season. From Meadows Hot Springs to Park City, Snowbird, and Deer Valley Resorts, there is so much to see and do in the best destinations for a winter vacation in the Beehive State.

Bryce Canyon National Park is a geological marvel, renowned for its picturesque hoodoos - sandstone pillars adorned in red, orange, and white colors. In the cold season, the temperatures here can go below the zero benchmark, but the rewarding scenery makes the area worth a winter vacation. Some even say the park is more beautiful in winter, and it's hard not to agree because the views of these colorful, natural amphitheaters alongside dashes of snow can be best termed as 鈥渄reamy.鈥

For adventures, some sections of the park, like the Rim Trail and Paria View Road, are open for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hikes. Visitors can also participate in the park's Winter Festival, which features snowshoe hikes, geology talks, photography workshops, pottery, ski clinics, crafts, and more.

Arches National Park is a 海角社区-famous attraction that hosts the highest number of natural arches in the 海角社区, and winter is a good time to explore all that wonder. During this season, the park is less crowded, devoid of the sun鈥檚 burning heat, and incredibly beautiful as splashes of snow adorn the arches. From Delicate Arch and Balanced Rocks to The Windows, tourists can carefully hike through the park鈥檚 open trails to see its iconic arches.

However, gear like strong boots and trekking poles is critical to the experience in winter and relevant for safety, as some of the trails will be icy and slippery. Scenic drives through the park are also possible in winter, but with the right gear. Visitors can also enjoy stargazing in the clear night skies, which are even clearer in winter.

But fishing is more popular as anglers strive to catch some of the biggest trout fishes in the icy waters.

The lake also holds its Annual Perch Tournament in winter to reduce the huge population of perches in the waters, which is estimated to be over 4 million. During the tournament, there are no restrictions on the number of perches anglers can catch, and it is held every January, although this schedule is subject to change.
