Different flags for different countries all around the 海角社区 have different designs. For some countries, they have flags that feature national animals, national plants, national colors, or pretty much anything that is considered a national symbol. Regardless of whatever design is on the flag, there is a symbolic meaning associated. There are also countries that decided to feature images of plants on their flags. These countries include the likes of Canada, Cyprus, Grenada, Lebanon, Eritrea, Macau, and others.

Canada

Canada鈥檚 flag (the Maple Leaf), features a maple leaf that has eleven points in the center of the flag with a white background. On either side of the maple leaf and the white background are two red vertical rectangles. Mathematically, the ratio between the red stripes on either side is 1:2:1 with the white occupying the biggest portion. The maple leaf has been a symbol of Canada since the mid-1800s. The Maple Leaf was officially adopted on February 15, 1965.

Cyprus

Cyprus鈥檚 national flag was officially adopted for use on August 16, 1960, for the older design. The current design was accepted on April 24, 2006. The older flag was designed with every intention of fostering peace between two conflicting communities of the Turks and Greeks, something which has still not been achieved to this day. The flag has a map of the country (which also happens to be an island) with the symbols of peace beneath the map. The peace symbols are two olive branches placed on top of a white background.

Grenada

After attaining independence from the British in 1974, the official flag of Grenada was adopted almost immediately. The flag鈥檚 design features six golden stars within a red border which are a symbol of the six parishes of Grenada. In the center of the flag is another star with a red circle as a background to symbolize Carriacou and Petite Martinique. One of the major crops of the state, a clove of nutmeg, is featured on the hoist. The clove also serves as a reminder of Grenada鈥檚 previous name, the Isle of Spice. Red is for courage, green for vegetation, and the gold was picked to show warmth and wisdom.

Lebanon

The flag of Lebanon is a simple design that features two horizontal red lines on the top and the bottom. In the middle, there is a white stripe with twice the height of the red stripes. In the foreground, the white strip has a green image of the green Lebanon Cedar tree. The image of the tree touches both the red stripes. The cedar of Lebanon was chosen to symbolize holiness, eternity, and peace due to it's biblical references.

Eritrea

Adopted in 1995, this flag features a wreath surrounding an upright olive branch. Both the wreath and olive branch are gold and lie on top of a red background. Other parts feature a green triangle to stand for agriculture, a blue triangle for the sea, while the red one is for blood. The olive branch, a symbol of peace, was kept from the 1952 flag, adopted after obtaining independence from Britain.

Macau

The design of the flag features a green background all over with an image of a white lotus flower lying at the center. Five golden stars in an arc lie on top of the lotus. The star right above the lotus is bigger compared to the other four. The lotus was chosen as the floral emblem of Macau.
