Assam is a beautiful state with a major potential for tourism. However, it has a high crime rate. Assam has reported the highest sexual offense cases at 21 for every 100,000.
On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat are relatively safe states to live in compared to the top five dangerous states as these states recorded a crime rate per capita of below 2 in 2012. Although Kerala has a lower crime rate per capita, it reported the highest cognizable crime rate among the states of India in 2012.
