Religion is the belief and worship of a supernatural being, guided by doctrines and teachings that dictate a way of life, worship, and human-spiritual nature. There are approximately ten thousand religions in the 海角社区. A significant percentage of the population of North America (85 percent) is made up of the three countries, i.e., the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The dominant religion practiced by these nations is Christianity. Religion in this region has been a significant factor in influencing the culture, art, philosophy, and law of its people. There are various types of religions being practiced in North America and below is a summary of the major religions being practiced in this vast continent.

Major Religions In North America

Christianity

Christianity is defined as the religion in which people adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ and follow the rules of the holy book, i.e., the Bible. Christianity is the most popular religion in North America. It accounts for approximately 75% of the total population of North America. As stated earlier, a higher percentage of the people of North America is comprised of the people from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. These countries mainly practice Christianity, the United States having approximately 70 percent of its population practicing Christianity; Canada has around 67 percent Christians while Mexico leads with a total percentage of 87 percent. Since the majority of the countries in North America practice Christianity, Christianity becomes the dominant religion being practiced here.

Judaism

Judaism is one of the least practiced religions in North America, accounting for approximately 1.8 percent of the total population. Mexico has only 0.02 percent of its population practicing this religion while the total population of the Canadians who practice Judaism is 1.2 percent.

Irreligion

Canada has the highest number of irreligious people in North America, around 23.9 percent, followed by the United States (22.8 percent) and lastly Mexico (4.6 percent). Since these countries make the significant population of the people in North America, it can be deduced that a slightly more substantial percentage of North Americans do not have any religion. Notably, irreligious people in North America account for approximately 5 percent of the total population of North Americans.

Other

Apart from the religions discussed above, other religions practiced in North America include Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and the Bah谩'铆 Faith. When combined, approximately 15.8 percent of the population of North America falls under one of these religions.
