Monte Rosa

With its peak elevation at 15,203 feet, Monte Rosa is the highest point in Switzerland. It is located in the Eastern Alps system and serves as a major tourist destination, attracting skiers, snowboarders, and climbers. It is also home to the Tour de Monte Rosa, a 10-day trekking trip popular amongst hikers.

Dom

The Dom is a mountain located in the Pennine Alps, with its peak at 14,911 feet. Although glaciers can be found on the mountain, environmental changes surrounding climate change have greatly impacted their appearance. Due to its located off the main Alpine chain, its rivers, which flow from the east and the west, both join to flow into the Rhone river.

Matterhorn

Although it stands as one of the tallest mountains in the Alps at 14,692 feet, the Matterhorn is most renowned for its iconic chiseled shape that has become a highly recognizable symbol of mountaineering. The first attempt at climbing the peak of the Matterhorn was highly documented in 1865 when it ended up in the disastrous fall of four mountain climbers. The highest of the Matterhorn's four peaks was only successfully ascended in 1962. The Matterhorn has been apart of the Swiss Federal Inventory of Natural Monuments since 1983.

Environmental Harm

Environmental impact has resulted in the melting of the many of the mountain's glacial formations, resulting in an increase in the risk of landslides and a reduced supply of fresh drinking water. Other residual effects of glacial melting include drought, floods, ecosystem vulnerability and economic destruction due to the loss of tourism.
