Burkina Faso is a country in the western part of Africa covering an area of 105,900 square miles. It has a population of approximately 17.3 million. Bobo-Dioulasso
Bobo-Dioulasso is the second largest city in Burkina Faso after Ouagadougou. It is located 220 miles from the capital in the Hauts-Bassins region, Houet province. It covers an area of approximately 52.81 square miles and a population of 537,728. The city was used by the French colonialists to identify the tribes living in the town. It is a center of culture, music, agricultural trade, and textile. The city has various attraction sites which are evidenced by the great and unique architecture, the great Bobo-Dioulasso mosque built in 1880, the Dafra which is a sacred pond, the regional museum, the zoo, and the pottery market.
Ouahigouya
Ouahigouya is a city in the northern part of the country. It is located in the Nord region, Yatenga Province 113 miles northwest of the capital. The city has a population of 122,677, and it is the third-largest town. Ouahigouya was founded in the year 1757, and its economy majorly depends on agriculture, but other industries such as commerce and craft are found. The town has a hot semi-arid climate. The population is served by two dams which supply households, industrial, and irrigation water.
Banfora
Banfora is a city located in the Cascades region (Cascades de Karfiguela), Comoe province 53 miles from Bobo-Dioulasso in the southeastern part of the country. It has an estimated population of 93,750, and it is the fourth largest city in the country. Its economy has gradually grown due to the sugar cane, and small tourism industry.
